A Gander at a Googlebook
Sunday 2nd August
Sunday 2nd August
Join Gareth and Ted for another episode of the Tech Addicts Podcast, where they dive into the latest gadgets, strange innovations and the ever-changing world of consumer technology. This week they take a closer look at FiiO’s affordable hi-fi audio gear, including the Snowsky Echo Nano MP3 player and JadeAudio GIGAS 1, discuss why 2026 is becoming the year of the CD and whether it’s time to rebuild your physical music collection, and explore the bizarre concept of a giant space mirror designed to reflect sunlight back to Earth. There’s also a look at Ayaneo’s retro-inspired Konkr Pocket Advance, Lenovo’s leaked Google-powered laptops that could redefine what a “Googlebook” really is, Canon’s decision to ramp up compact camera production and plenty of entertaining tangents, including The Human Fridge! Finally, Gareth and Ted share their latest purchases, featuring the Google TV Streamer and Sony LinkBuds Clip, along with a nostalgic look back at the Razer Cynosa Chroma keyboard. Whether you’re into retro tech, cutting-edge gadgets, or just enjoy a good tech chat, there’s something here for every enthusiast.

Plenty more, as always, so do join us for an hour, now available in the usual places.

Episode 905 - The Sidephone Saga!
Monday 10th August
Jim Fowl joins Joe and I this time and we take a really interesting deep-dive into his kind-of 'dumb' phone which he's kind-of adopted and kind-of likes a lot! Lots of time for other stuff too - always a lovely array of interesting gear when Jim's on the show - plus we look forward to the Pixel Event on Wednesday, and both Joe and I now have the Moto Razr 70 Ultra in hand going forward for review. Most of all, I'm looking forward to getting my newly-repaired Fairphone 5 back from France (but not the coming 6+ unit)!

So clip on your socks, rest your feet, fire up your endoscope and you might just be in for some Oral-B if you're lucky!

The Ace, the Astra & the Angry VLC
Sunday 16th August
Sunday 16th August
Gareth and Ted are back with another gloriously eclectic dose of Tech Addicts, where this week’s tech news takes us from Google’s decidedly familiar-looking Pixel Watch 5 to the gaming muscle of the REDMAGIC Astra 2, with a curious detour into the Cabletime ScreenDock. There is also a look at Sonos - apparently preparing the Ace Ultra, we discover that VLC has found itself caught up in a rather messy Microsoft Defender debacle and celebrate the news that GOG is officially heading to Linux. Throw in some AI phone-call shenanigans, a look at the privacy-friendly SearXNG search engine, our latest tech purchases and a bargain-packed selection of UK deals, and there’s plenty to chew over!

Gemini Everywhere & The OneDrive that Lurks
Sunday 23rd August
Sunday 23rd August
The latest Tech Addicts is here, and this week Ted and Gareth have a lot to get their heads around! We take a trip down the retro gaming rabbit hole with GOG and Antstream Arcade, before looking at how Gemini is becoming increasingly difficult to escape, Framework’s newly upgraded budget laptop, TCL’s increasingly clever smart lock and Sony’s latest headphone leak. Then it’s time to venture into the Googlebook nook, investigate Microsoft’s mysteriously hidden OneDrive app and check out the latest additions to the Tech Addicts arsenal in another packed Bought Report. As always, there’s plenty of tech chat, questionable banter and the occasional bit of accidental nonsense along the way!

Wednesday 26th August
Wednesday 26th August
Strap in again for another pod as Gareth and I navigate a Titanic telly, film and cinematic minefield ranging from the devil's Jaws to a frosty morgue! We’re dodging friendly fire in our World War II Fandom Focus, heading to the gutter in Alley Cats, surviving cinematic split-personalities in our 'Film of Two-Halves' themed treats and taking a thoroughly uncomfortable trip with The Corpse of Anna Fritz. Expect plenty of flap as we flop the Fockers, share some fond farewells in our Final Curtain and chuck about enough witty banter to survive a bunker collapse!

Monday 31st August
Jim Fowl joins Joe and I again this week as we get his hands-on first impressions of his Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 (the wide one)! We stack it up against the OG Pixel Fold and even the Microsoft Surface Duo for a good old punch-up! We also chat about the ins and outs of the Fairphone 6+ as I stack that up against my Fairphone 5.
